Fall ’18 Trends I am Obsessed With

Greeting everyone, and welcome back to my blog! It has been a hot minute since I posted something that wasn’t part of a series. I have been quite preoccupied outside of the blogging-sphere, and needed a break. But I have some time off and decided to dedicate it to blogging, writing and researching for other blog posts.

This post is all about fall/winter 2018 trends that I am obsessed with. Hope you enjoy reading it! Let me know which your favourites are!

Animal prints

I remember a time when this trend was absolutely everywhere. It dwindled for several years, but now animal prints – whether zebra, tiger, leopard, the whole nine yards – are back in full force and I am here for it! To avoid looking like an escape, keep the rest of the outfit (which is not animal printed) plain and team up with flats.

Tweed

The tweed trend reminds me a lot of the vintage/heritage chic era. My favourite item of clothing made from tweed has to be a jacket. I have one, which I got from my sister, and it’s a combination of this style and sporty (because of the leather). A blazer/skirt set would be perfect for a business meeting.

Checks

I never stopped loving this trend; it reminds me of Clueless. I still wear oversized, checked shirts as jackets (which I got from my dad or grandfather’s closets!). But it’s not just jackets that look cute checked. I like the blazer/trouser set for an important meeting or blogging event (like the one in the photo). I also like checked skirts paired with a jumper and shirt (pictured below).

Leather

The most dominant of all fabrics, not to mention my very favourite trend this fall! From skirts and trousers to jackets and bags, it is a trend you can wear without being over the top.

Florals

Who said florals are only for summertime? The print does not have to be bright like in spring and summer, but can be a blend of dark hues and deep tones. I am also in love with floral patches on denim jeans and floral print trousers! Very feminine.

Knitwear

Whether you’re going super casual with jeans, or more dressed up in a silk skirt, this fall is all about the chunky knit. The bigger the better, whether in colour blocks or solids. The bonus for this trend is that it will leave you cosy and comfortable throughout the day.

Sequins

Sparkle your way this fall with sequins! You can rock this trend in everyday situations through skirts, trousers and tops; no need to keep the sequins for a Christmas or New Years’ bash.

Velvets

This trend is something I have been rocking since I was a child, in adjacent with the chunky knitwear. My earliest memory of wearing velvet was a bowler hat – yes, a bowler hat made out of velvet – paired with a mustard and green chunky knit sweater. Yes… big fashion faux-pas but I was young and I wasn’t the one dressing myself. I love this trend because it’s effortless, soft, cosy and very chic.

  1. Ha good to hear leopard print is back! I’m clueless with fashion but just yesterday I started making a skirt out of an old leapord print top I had that was too big. (Recently started repurposing old clothes to make new items) I’ll be sure to wear it with plain items 🙂 thanks for the inspiration 🙂
